Failing Systems
A septic tank with an elevated liquid level can cause a malfunction. This particular rise is caused by a corroded cast iron pipe exiting the tank, not allowing liquids to properly leave the tank. The solution is at times as simple as replacing the outlet pipe.
A malfunction sub surface drainage field. This surfacing of sewage is usually caused by restriction of percolation due to a bio mat beneath the drainage field aggregate. This bio mat naturally occurs, and is accelerated by improper septic tank pumping. Also, excessive water usage (or leaky water fixtures) from the house and installation of subsurface drainage fields in areas of seasonal high water table add to the problem.
The solution to this problem can be conservative water usage from the house, possibly curtain drain installation, or worst case the installation of a new septic system.
